The building that houses Hotel Preciados was built in 1881 on property owned by the Descalzas Reales, whose first owner was the Count of Romanones. Now completely refurbished, this building on the corner of Preciados and Veneras streets combines 19th-century elegance and 21st-century progress, putting the latest in design and technology to work for its guests.

Hotel Preciados's Café Varela Restaurant is located in the same place as the romantic Café Varela (1896-1959), which was a must for great writers of the time such as Miguel de Unamuno, the Machado brothers, Emilio Carrere and so many others who conceived their ideas over a warm cup of coffee.
