Set in 4 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, this Victorian country house spa hotel and restaurant offers award-winning cuisine and a brand-new spa, opened in 2008.
Privately owned and run, Hempstead House Hotel & Restaurant is a traditional English country house hotel, surrounded by the glorious Kent countryside.
The luxurious en suite rooms are all individually designed, with modern facilities, including high-speed wired internet access.
The hotel boasts spacious, elegant reception rooms and 3 bars. The delightful classical restaurant, Lakes, offers award-winning food and professional but friendly service.
The new AquaManda Spa and fitness centre has superb relaxation and leisure facilities, including a sauna, a steam room and a 15-metre swimming pool with hydrotherapy pool. The fitness studio offers a full range of classes and a fully equipped, state-of-the-art gym. The therapy suite offers 5 spacious treatment rooms and a relaxation lounge.
The extensive gardens and terraces make an ideal setting for al fresco aperitifs and dining on summer evenings. In the winter months, guests can enjoy the warmth and comfort of the roaring log fires.
Located on the main A2 road, near the cathedral towns of Canterbury and Rochester and historic Leeds Castle, Hempstead House is also very close to the ports of Dover and Folkestone. The Eurostar terminal is also about 30 minutes’ drive away and London can be reached within an hour by rail.
Use of the hotel’s relaxation and leisure facilities is included in the price for all hotel guests.
The therapy suite offers a wide range of relaxing and therapeutic spa treatments, from manicures and pedicures to full body rituals, massages and facials. The facility also features a contemporary brasserie offering a bar service and light snacks throughout the day, as well as comprehensive lunch and dinner menus.
All around the hotel’s beautiful gardens are seats and benches, perfect for unwinding and relaxation. A secret spa garden, carefully secluded to afford privacy and tranquillity, is the perfect place to while away some time after having a treatment or using the other facilities.

Standard rooms offer reasonably priced accommodation, with all the same facilities as the superior and executive rooms. They all have desks with halogen lighting and are fully en suite, with most bathrooms having baths and showers. All rooms have broadband internet access.
With a seating capacity of 60, the stylishly appointed restaurant is the essential complement to the classic style of the hotel. With its crystal chandeliers, fine china, silver cutlery and cut glass, it provides the perfect setting for the superb cuisine which has won awards with the RAC, AA and English Tourist Board. The menu offers a tempting variety of classical English and French dishes which cater for traditional as well as more adventurous tastes, and the cellar is stocked with an extensive selection of wines from all around the world. Everything is freshly prepared using locally produced meat and fish, and vegetables delivered from Covent Garden every day. Two private dining rooms are available.

- The hotel is one and a half miles east of Sittingbourne on the main A2.
- It is approximately 200 yards beyond the Esso garage on the right-hand side.
