Priding itself on its friendly and professional approach to all guests, this Victorian hotel is situated right in the centre of Wisbech, a town with a rich Georgian heritage.
The White Lion Hotel has a good location, close to the very heart of Wisbesh’s town centre. This historic town boasts beautifully preserved Georgian architecture along the famous North Brink and on The Crescent. Also worth a visit are Wisbech Castle, Peckover House and the Octavia Hill Museum, the former home of the co-founder of the National Trust.
The hotel offers safe and Closed-circuit TV-monitored parking area for guests. There is also a public parking area next to the hotel’s car park.
A continental of a full cooked English breakfast is available at an additional cost.
A bar menu is available on weekdays and the bright and airy bar/brasserie lounge is ideal for a quiet drink or snack with friends. The flag-stoned courtyard offers the perfect setting for a drink on a warm summer evening.

Disabled Facilities:
The White Lion Hotel is a historic building and there is no lift. Unfortunately, the hotel does not offer accommodation on the ground floor.
The hotel has 14 comfortable, attractive and well-appointed rooms, including single, double and twin rooms. There is also a family room for young families with one double bed, one single bed and room for a travel cot.
Each room has a TV with Freeview digital channels.
The rooms are spacious and bright, with some overlooking the River Nene and others facing out onto the hotel’s flag-stoned courtyard.
Only single room in hotel overlooks court yard. Quiet room.
Good size room, plenty of natural daylight on 2nd floor.
Nice large room with one double and one single bed.
Two bedded room with bath and shower. Quiet rooms.
On weekdays, the hotel offers a bistro-style menu to both guests and members of the public. The menu features a delightfully varied choice of dishes, catering for every taste, including vegetarians. All the food is prepared by the chef in the hotel's modern kitchen.
In addition to a lunch and evening bar/brasserie menu, the hotel also serves continental or full English breakfasts, morning coffees and a bar menu.
From 9 November 2008, the hotel will offer a carvery on Sundays.
Small parties are welcome in the restaurant, while larger gatherings are easily catered for in the privacy of the hotel’s function room.
The general ambience of the hotel is reflected in the comfortable bar/lounge. The bar is bright and airy. Making it a great spot for a quiet drink or a snack with friends. The bar has a relaxed atmosphere and a comprehensive choice of beers, lagers, spirits and soft drinks. The spacious, flag-stoned courtyard offers the perfect setting for a drink on a warm summer evening and is easily accessible from the hotel’s reception and the car park.
By Car:
- Take the A47.
- Exit onto the B198, Cromwell Road.
- Before reaching the first set of traffic lights, turn right (one way street) and the hotel car park is on the left-hand side.
By Bus:
First Bus X1 Lowestoft via Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Kings Lynn, Wisbech, Peterborough.
Other direction- First Bus X1 departs from Train and Bus Station in Peterborough. These run every 30 minutes Monday-Friday and every hour Saturday and Sunday.
There are taxis available from the bus station, however, the hotel is within walking distance (approximately 6 minutes).
