Set in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains, our 17th Century inn generates warmth and ambiance for that special break. 10 miles from the coastal and university town of Aberystwyth, see the Red Kite & spectacular scenery from our rooms.
Our famous and renowned 17th Century hotel is set in the heart of the stunning Cambrian Mountains of mid-Wales. The hotel is perched on the edge of the Rheidol Gorge and has stunning views from most rooms. We offer wide selection of traditional English, home cooked food. As an alternative, you may wish to enjoy a drink and a meal in either of our two lounge bars, where you can relax by the log fires. All rooms are en- suite and are located on two floors with easy access. Some rooms are larger than others, but all offer a high standard of cleanliness. Ample car parking and lock-ups for motor cycles and bicycles are available and we are also situated only 1 mile from the increasingly popular mountain bike trails of Nant-yr-Arian. There is no more to be said - just experience the unique warmth, ambiance and atmosphere of our lovely hotel - you won't be disappointed.

All rooms are tastefully decorated with full en-suite facilities, colour tv, direct-dial telephone with modem point and tea/coffee making. Rooms are situated on the first and second floors. views of rheidol gorge andsurrounding mountains from most rooms. Two rooms do not, however we will endeavour to place Active Hotel bookings with mountain views subject to availability
Restaurant Our informal restaurant serving Traditional Style Menu which includes Home Made Specials, is situated at the rear or the hotel with panoramic views over the surrounding Cambrian mountains and the Rheidol Gorge. A lovely room in which to relax and unwind - soft music ambiance and above all.... Superb, freshly cooked food using local produce and suppliers wherever possible. Bars Our two lounge bars are also lovely informal eating places, where you will be greeted by open fires in the Autumn and winter months. Dine in one of these and choose from our wide range Traditional Style Menu which includes Home Made Specials. Last orders for meals is at 21.00 hours. Breakfast Breakfast is served in our restaurant from 7.45 to 9.00 hours Dinner Dinner is served from 18.00 to 21.00 hours, choose from our wide range Traditional Style Menue which includes Home Made Specials. All Day Meals Meals are available all day to residents and non-residents, from 8.00 to 21.00 hours. these can be chosen from our wide range Traditional Style Menu - Home Made Specials - Snacks and Cream Teas, and can be eaten in our restaurant - Bars or in the Garden overlooking the Gorge.
Situated alongside the a44 route through the Cambrian Mountains, we are only 15 minutes drive from the coastal town of Aberystwyth. Travelling time from Birmingham, Worcester and Gloucester is approximately 2 hours and only a little more from the East Midlands, Manchester and Liverpool. Situated only one mile from the increasingly popular mountain bike trails of Nant-yr-Arian. From Aberystwyth, take the a44 for approximately 10 miles. After the Nant-yr-Arian forestry centre on your left, continue for another 1.5 miles. The hotel can be seen on the right hand side. From Newtown, Llangurig and Builth Wells, take the a44 and continue for approximately 12 miles. On entering the village, pass the service station on the right hand side. The hotel will be found 100 yards further on the left hand side.
